DEFINING THE LIVING WOMAN

WELCOME!
The Living Woman. It means something to be living. It means that we are not dead or static. We are still growing and changing, reacting to the world around us and exploring new ideas while still investigating old ideas. I believe it is important to be living in this sense. I believe in people having the right to change their mind. I’m sure I’ll change my mind a lot over the course of the posts on this blog, and I will eventually perhaps contradict myself. It is not that I don’t stand for anything. It’s only that I stand for something beyond a steadfast and unwavering belief. I stand for questioning, for learning, for growth, for dynamic individualism coupled with the responsibility to acknowledge misconceptions and errors. I stand for not being dead.
Here you will find posts related to many topics related to being a woman. One post may be related to motherhood; the next may be related to aging. Some will consider sports, film, and music. That will all depend on what is going on in my life and in the world at the moment I sit down at the keyboard. I may very well write a post someday about how to make the perfect slow-cooker pot roast, though that seems unlikely given that my contributions to any company pot luck has always been to hand someone my debit card because no one actually wants me to even slice up vegetables for a veggie tray. Still, I am growing and learning, so anything is possible. I do make a mean bologna and potato chip sandwich, after all. That, my husband will tell you, is a gourmet meal.
I hope you will come visit often and that we can learn, grow, and change together. I hope that sometimes you will challenge me and that I sometimes challenge you. I hope that we can all become living women who understand that we do not share one voice but instead are a force of millions of fabulous individual voices. Of course, I also hope that you wander around the rest of this website and consider buying a book or two. No worries. I promise there are no recipe books in my future – at least for now.
